IDNtribune.com, Riyadh – As part of its national economic diversification efforts, Saudi Arabia has unveiled an ambitious plan to attract 100 million tourists by 2030. To achieve this goal, the Kingdom is investing in several futuristic tourism developments designed to captivate both domestic and international travelers.

Diriyah Gate
The Diriyah Gate project, valued at $50 billion, spans 370 hectares and is envisioned to welcome 25 million visitors annually. The heritage-inspired development will feature dozens of ultra-luxury hotels, fine-dining restaurants, and residences for tens of thousands of people, blending modern comfort with the cultural legacy of the Kingdom.

Al-Qiddiya
Located 45 kilometers east of Riyadh, Al-Qiddiya is a mega-entertainment complex under construction that aims to become Saudi Arabia’s entertainment capital. Connected by a modern metro system, it will host the largest water park in the Middle East, a Formula 1 circuit, stadiums, resorts, golf courses, and a major arts complex — offering a comprehensive experience for recreation, sports, and culture.

The Red Sea Project
The Red Sea Project is a flagship eco-luxury development encompassing 16 world-class hotels across islands, deserts, and mountains. Designed with sustainability at its core, the project will include its own airport, an 18-hole golf course, and a luxury yacht marina, offering a premium yet environmentally responsible tourism experience.

Al-Ula
Al-Ula stands as one of Saudi Arabia’s most unique heritage destinations. Recognized for its ancient cities and distinctive rock formations, the area will serve as a living open-air museum. It is home to several luxury resorts, with more developments planned, inviting visitors to explore its rich history and breathtaking landscapes.

Trojena
Part of the NEOM mountain range, Trojena introduces an unprecedented high-altitude tourism concept to the region. The project includes natural mountain resorts with 3,600 rooms, 30 kilometers of ski slopes covered in snow for three months each year, an artificial lake, The Vault digital and recreational hub, and 2,200 residential units. The development symbolizes innovation and harmony between nature and technology.

The Rig
The Rig represents a bold step into adventure tourism. Built on an offshore platform covering 150,000 square meters, it will feature 880 hotel rooms, 11 restaurants, helipads, a theme park, and extensive water sports facilities. This project aims to redefine extreme tourism by transforming an oil platform into a luxurious entertainment destination.

Beyond these landmark projects, Saudi Arabia continues to expand its global presence by hosting major international events such as Formula 1, Formula E, and various world-class sporting competitions. Together, these initiatives position the Kingdom as a future global hub for tourism, culture, and sports, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030.
